Jhacole’s journey began in Houston, Texas. Growing up in the city’s south side, she witnessed firsthand many of the inequities present in education, and how these challenges can impact not only learning, but also access to better jobs and quality of life. This experience sparked a lifelong mission: to champion equity, sustainability, and accessible learning models that empower communities and individuals at every stage of life. Throughout her career, Jhacole has created and advocated for inclusive and accessible pathways and advancement opportunities for learners and workers along their unique and individual life journeys.

Jhacole earned her B.A. in English from the University of Houston-Downtown, her M.A. in Education Leadership from Texas Southern University, and her Ed.D. in Learning and Organizational Change from Baylor University. She is also a graduate of Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and continues to be a devoted and active advocate for the visual and performing arts. Jhacole believes in the transformative nature of creativity and art’s ability to push and bridge humanity.

An avid researcher with interests in topics on equity in academic programming and funding, effective student engagement, and building sustainable community within post-secondary education programs, Jhacole is passionate about preparing students to contribute and lead in a rapidly evolving global system. Her interest in consumer sciences and zero waste fashion conservation have also led to Jhacole’s engagement in textile and clothing sustainability research and practices.

Recognized for her commitment to equity and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, Jhacole has led research and design efforts toward improved access to empower learners and workers, while also challenging leaders in academia and industry around improved skills acquisition, development, and acknowledgment practices.
